The Claude plugin marketplace

A plugin bundles skills, connectors, agents or hooks so you can add them to Claude in one step. A marketplace is a catalog of plugins you install from. Plugins work in Claude Cowork and Claude Code, not in Chat.

In Claude Cowork

  1. Browse the official catalog

    Open Customize, then Plugins, then Browse plugins. The default marketplace is Anthropic's official catalog. Pick a plugin and click Install.

  2. Add another marketplace

    On the Plugins page, choose Add marketplace and enter a GitHub repository as owner/repo or the full https://github.com/owner/repo URL. Its plugins then appear next to the others and install the same way.

In Claude Code

  1. Add a marketplace

    /plugin marketplace add owner/repo

  2. Install a plugin from it

    /plugin install plugin-name@marketplace-name

    Run /plugin to open the plugin manager and browse what is available. Claude Code adds Anthropic's official marketplace, claude-plugins-official, the first time you start it.

What a plugin can contain

One plugin can bundle several component types: skills (procedures Claude follows), slash commands, sub-agents, hooks that run on events, and MCP servers that connect outside tools. Where you use Claude decides which components load - hooks and sub-agents, for example, do not load in a plain chat session. Official vs community marketplaces

Anthropic maintains the official marketplace and reviews what ships in it. Anyone can publish a community marketplace from a Git repository, so the checks that matter are who maintains it and what its plugins can access.
